The Technical University of Moldova (TUM) hosted the inaugural session for the Erasmus+ KA2 project titled “REFORMING UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION FOR GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN ARMENIA AND MOLDOVA” (RE-GRAD) on February 15-16, 2024, marking a crucial moment in international collaboration for higher education.

The Erasmus+ RE-GRAD project, with reference number 101128817, has a budget of EUR 833 626.00 and will run for 3 years, from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026. The project coordinator is Dr., prof. Nina Puțuntean, Head of International Relations Service, TUM.

RE-GRAD project aims at supporting reform of the undergraduate education in Armenia and Moldova enabling the shift from traditional to inclusive, digital and green oriented curricula in support of sustainable development

The specific objectives of the project include:

  • Fact-funding analysis of current situation of the policy, practices and issues for academic programmes design and teaching approaches in Armenian and Moldova HEIs with a focus on development of green skills and digitalization
  • Capacity building training of the staff from involved PC partner institutions on European experience of Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education policy and approaches
  • Training of the staff from PC partner institutions on design of outcomes-based undergraduate programmes integrating SDGs and as outcomes and practice-oriented teaching and learning
  • Revision of SQF for selected undergraduate programmes in Armenia and CESD in Moldova
  • Redesign and piloting of 8 undergraduate programmes (including teaching and learning approaches) at the PC HEIs in line with SQF and CESD
  • Partnership agreements for cooperation activities after lifetime of the project.

 

The project consortium brings together 12 institutions from 5 countries:

  • Moldova: Technical University of Moldova, “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” State University of Cahul, Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-Moldova Club France,
  • Armenia: Yerevan State University, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, Centre for Education Policy and Management of Armenia,
  • Italy: University of Sannio, CESIE
  • France: University of Strasbourg,
  • Romania: Transilvania University of Brasov.

 

The following project outcomes are expected to be sustainable after the end of the Erasmus+ programme funding:

1. Training package on European experience on integration of Green Deal and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education policy and curricula, as well as outcomes-oriented and digital teaching and learning of the educational programmes;

2. Trained staff from involved institutions to design outcomes-based undergraduate programmes integrating SDGs targeting environmental issues and digital dimension, as well as outcomes and practice-oriented teaching and learning;

3. Revised Sectorial Qualification Frameworks (SQF) for selected undergraduate programmes in AM and Concept of Education for Sustainable Development (CESD) in MD;

4. Redesigned selected academic undergraduate programmes:

–    Technology of wine and fermented products

–    Mechanical Engineering

–    Public Administration

–    Food Industry Engineering and Management

–    Public administration

–    Public Policy and Biology

–    Heat and gas supply and ventilation

–    Geodesy and Cadastre

5. Revised teaching and learning approaches (including work-based learning) in line with redesigned undergraduate programmes and expected learning outcomes;

6.  Partnership agreements for cooperation activities after lifetime of the project
